Established as a holiday resort and place to stay in the summer at the end of the nineteenth century, Limone Piemonte was one of the first places where winter sports became widespread at the beginning of the 20th century, leading to a significant building development in the second post-war period, in order to meet the growing residential demand. This led it to be the tourist resort and place for second homes it still is today. Limone Piemonte owes its current economy and the strong development that took place during the twentieth century to these winter activities (which began to spread during the nineteenth century with the propagation of romantic thought) and are still present today.
In recent years, the ski-lift facilities have been renovated with an eight-seat cable car named after Severino Bottero and have over 80 km of slopes, with ski-lift facilities ranging from 1050 m. to 2100 m above sea level. for different degrees of difficulty. These territories are naturally covered with snow during the winter season and have a snowmaking system designed to allow skiing in absolute safety even with low snowfall.
