The museum is in a beautiful building along with the civic library that overlooks Piazza Henry Durant in the highest part of the town.

The town is located at the entrance of three different valleys: Vermenagna, Gesso, Stura.
The village of Fontan develops mainly along RD 6204 road, on the right bank of the Roya river. Tourette district, another historic grouping of houses, is on the left bank.
The Madonna del Poggio dominates a very steep natural area, at the confluence of Roya and Bendola rivers. It is bordered by RD 138 road.
The road and the gorges’ work are at the bottom of the valley near Roya river, and Ambo road on a steep slope. The commemorative plaques are visible from the road.
The village of Saorge is spread out amphitheatrically on a steep slope closed to the north-northwest by a rocky ridge.
You can reach Piène-Haute, either from Olivetta San Michele (in Italy, south of Breil), or by an dirt track from Col de Brouis, between Breil and Sospel.
Locomotives, wagons, railcars, trolleys and old streetcars are presented outdoors and under hangar in the immediate vicinity of the station, the tracks and a level crossing.
The collections of objects and models are presented inside the old cars. They were refitted for this purpose.
